John was born and raised in Minot, North Dakota and met his wife, Tania, there. They now live together in Bismarck with their two teenage children, Lucas and Josie. In John’s opinion, Bismarck has been a great place to raise a family. John generally spends his free time playing golf or tennis, relaxing with his family, or cheering on his favorite team, the Miami Dolphins. He also enjoys listening to music—he has seen his favorite band, Styx, in concert more than 10 times!
Shortly after graduating from college in 1989, John joined the Brady Martz team. He has devoted the entirety of his professional accounting career to serving the firm. In his capacity as a shareholder, John works in the firm’s tax department and is the Oil & Gas Industry Lead—he has more than two decades of experience working with clients in this sector. Additionally, he offers tax and consulting services to small medical practices. Upon earning his CPA designation, John earned the Elijah Watt Sells Award for performance on the CPA exam. In 2005, he was named the Financial Services Advocate of the Year by the Small Business Administration.
A dedicated and hardworking professional, John strives to ensure that his clients are successful and that their needs are met. He chose to enter the accounting field because he was always good with numbers and he enjoys working with people. John believes that “attitude is everything”—so much that he considers it his favorite quote. His goal each and every day is to put in hard work and focus on his clients.
