Steven Ulven

Steve was raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota and lives there to this day. He met his wife at a tailgate party at a UND football game and the rest is history. They have two sons and a dog named Bailey. In his free time, Steve enjoys playing golf and being a spectator to most major sports. His love of sports has passed down to his oldest son, who is a hockey goalie. Steve loves supporting him at his games. When Steve has the opportunity to travel, one of his favorite destinations to visit is Disneyworld.

As a young accounting professional fresh out of college, Steve joined the Drees, Riskey & Vallager, Ltd. (DRV) team in 1987. After a decade with DRV, he left to work for another firm for two years, but then returned to DRV in 1999. In 2015, he joined Brady Martz via its merger with DRV. A DRV shareholder at the time, Steve moved onto the Brady Martz team in the same capacity. Steve is a valuable team member because he has broad knowledge in many tax areas and audit and assurance. Additionally, he has specialized knowledge in business valuation and related consulting. He works with a wide range of clients, rather than focusing on one area or industry. Steve works with clients in the hospitality, agriculture processing, manufacturing, dental practice, general retail, and professional services industries, to name a few.

A steady and reliable professional, Steve’s simple motto is to treat others as he would like to be treated. He seeks to always be an advocate for his clients, to build strong personal relationships with them, and to always be responsive to their needs and questions. After Steve’s father passed away at a young age, his mother returned to school to study accounting while simultaneously raising her four children. Watching her example inspired Steve to develop a strong work ethic, to understand the importance of dedication to one’s family, and to pursue a career in the accounting field himself.
